We recently learned of the death of Ralph Barr, W0DNO. He was the first president of TBARC in its current form. At one time he was simultaneously president of TBARC, CARL, West Valley and QCWA.

Ralph's memorial service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 15649 N 7th Street, Phoenix on October 24th at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, Minnesota. Memorials may be made to the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology or Hospice of the Valley.

Our condolences go out to his family.

Further details can be found here.

Thanks to Virgil K7VZ we have this great picture of (most of) the attendees at the first 2017 Technician license class.

We look forward to hearing you on air!

Gary Cline AF7BJ led an intrepid group of 11 up to Flagstaff to escape the heat. They ended up operating SSB on 40 and 20, as well as a digital station. Some operation was solar, and one member brought up a portable SDR radio as well. Weather for most of the weekend was good, though rain on Sunday got most people heading back before the eclipse.

Everyone enjoyed the Saturday pot luck, and the propane grills were put to good use. The cooler weather was a nice break from the temperatures in Phoenix. You can see how things went in the photo gallery.
