• 2019 Hamfest Presentations Announced

    The Thunderbird Amateur Radio Club is proud to welcome the following speaker who will present programs of interest to Radio Amateurs. Monitor the hamfest simplex frequency 146.56 for announcement of which room.

    0900-1030: Jack Lunsford NT7MM:
    • Computer Antenna Modeling an Introduction: Examine what Computer Antenna Modeling is and a bit of history. Consider the benefits. Explore Modeling Programs available to Hams. Review the basics of antennas. Frequency, size. materials impedance, gain, radiation patterns. Discuss the inputs to modeling programs and see how outputs are displayed. Conduct a demonstration if time permits.


    Jack Lunsford became interested in Ham Radio while in Jr high school, my science teacher was Glen Johnson, K0FQK. He was my first Elmer. Attended University of Colorado on a US Navy scholarship and served on Destroyers in the Pacific as navigator and electronics officer. Taught electronics in Reserve Officers School in Omaha after active duty. I am a retired Architect after many years practice in Phoenix.
    He is active in the Northern Arizona DX Association,*the Thunderbird Amateur Radio Club, and am secretary of the Amateur Radio Council of Arizona; enjoying DX, rag chew, and contesting. I build some gear mostly antennas and really enjoy antenna design using Eznec.

    Ray Vasquez K4RMV is a Retired Electrical Engineer with a BS and MS EE. Retired form Intel Corporation. After retiring I got my first ham license which was in 2003 and promptly got my Extra that year. I have been involved in installing two Yeasu DR-2X repeaters and am the repeater trustee for Scottsdale Amateur Radio Club. I am involved in two other Ham radio clubs and help expand the ham experience.
